We had an amazing stay at Gulf Shores/Pensacola West KOA! The cottage was a perfect pet friendly place for us to stay while vacationing. Convenient online booking, friendly staff, & the entire campground was peacefully quiet. The swings were adorable, the pool was clean, & the Bay view from our cottage was breathtaking. We were disappointed that our cottage was dirty, but still loved our stay!!
Wont stay here again. Other Pensacola KOA probably better.
Stayed in 1bdrm trailer with full kitchen one night. That was nice. No fire ring, brought us a portable ring to use made out of metal to place on ground, didn't use, they said we could use next campsites ring as there was no tent campers there. Check-in not til 3, checkout by 11:00( thought it was 12) or your charged $25 late checkout, "owners policy". We were out by 11:45-got charged. Pool, laundy, hot tub all nice. Steep walk/drive down to water when in main campground area/cabins down there. TV reception sucked, snowy pic. Kinda pricey. 1st KOA experience with family and all new KOA member. Did complain about $25 fee to manager but no help and kinda rude.
Tent camp site. Sites are VERY small and extremely close together. When I arrived, I actually thought someone was already in my spot til I saw the site markings. I actually didn't bother to pitch my tent and just slept in the back of my SUV for the one night I stayed. Restrooms and showers left some to be desired for cleanliness. Other guests were friendly as was the staff I interacted with. There's a short walk to the Bay and a very nice view. With some improvements, this would be a nice place to stay. I will give it another try as a place to get a few hours sleep when traveling through SUV camping.
warning there are low branches within the park that will scrape across the top of your rig. They need to cut these.Though this KOA is in Alabama it literally is across the river from Florida and access to Pensacola. This is a quiet Park and all of the sites are grass-covered. The sites are for the most part spacious. Most have a brick patio slab in the larger area along with a swing. We're excited about staying here since the website shows it has a sauna which my wife likes to enjoy. While we were in day two of our stay we asked the manager where the sauna was and she pointed at the hot tub. We explained that the website said they have a sauna and that's what we're looking for. She pointed to the timer on the hot tub and said just turn the dial to turn it on. When my wife asked her if she knew what a sauna was she became very frustrated and turned and walked away from us. So the bottom line is they do not have a sauna in here. They also advertise that they have a outdoor Community gas grill. I have attached a photo of this Grill. It's very large but they need to mow the inside of it it's very overgrown with vegetation. When we checked in and on the website it said they had cable. The clerk told us not to use it because it does not work well. There's a playground for children and a large swimming pool and a hot tub. If you want to get away from the urban area and stay in a nice quiet area this is a place to go.
It was okay stayed In cabin. I've stayed in better . Basically a one bedroom mobile home. Very plain the bay excess was not what I expected no beach for the kids to play you would not want to swim in it. The pool was the best feature very nice, clean good size
